Drew’s thoughts - CEO Grow Interactive

Drew from Grow Interactive at Start Norfolk

  • The practical answer is almost always the right one
  • Fake it til you make it
  • The scary stuff isn’t scary
  • Being good is easy. Excellence is in the last 2%
  • Sooner than later, you’ll have to learn to run a business
  • Create fanatical clients & focus on building relationships
  • Focus on the things you like & delegate everything else
  • Hire people who inspire you
  • How you do anything is how you do everything
  • Never trust a guy with a list (aka adopt what works for you!)

Communication is key when being remote.

What we have in Norfolk that they don’t:

1) Closer teams

2) A measurable impact (focused only on product, not on any politics, etc. at an office.) And impact in community.  (AIGA chapter)

3) A cost effective environment

4) A better atmosphere for families

5) The ability to stand out in a crowd

Embrace the ‘rising today’ mentality

INSPIRATION FROM “THE FULFILLMENT GUY” AND ZAPPOS

My friend and client, Eric Brown – aka “The Fulfillment Guy” – had the privilege of meeting Tony Hsieh, the CEO of Zappos. I’m envious of Eric… Tony is an inspiration. He has built a phenomenal company, that was just recently acquired by Amazon. I just bought Tony’s book “Delivering Happiness”, and can’t wait to dig in.
Eric was kind enough to share the core values of the Zappo’s business, and I’ve borrowed the list to share with you. Even if these values don’t match your business model, or ideals, they are a great list of attributes that any company should have.
